Today marks the fifteenth anniversary of me starting my first Camino de Santiago. I was excited and a bit nervous as I left St Jean Pied de Port, FR on a five hundred plus mile trek across northern Spain. A walk that would change how I saw myself. I have tried to recapture that feeling on other hikes but some first times cannot be repeated.

This also marks the beginning of the Wife's Camino in 2023. She also had a meaningful experience. I guess the Camino has a way of touching people in special ways.
Don't know if or when you'll see this, but Hola! We met on that first walk of yours (my first solo). Used to see occasional posts of the Book of Faces. And we shared a friend in Genevieve. In poking around as I prep for another walk I stumbled to my ancient blog and then back to yours! That walk 15 years ago was and still is a special one. Wishing you well and think of our friend whenever I wear purple socks! Karin S
ReplyDeleteKSAM! It's been a long time. Crazy that it's been 15 years since we met in Ponferrada. It will be 10 years since Genevieve passed. Weird how time both flies and crawls the older you get. You may have seen that I walked the Camino for a third time with the Wife (her first). It's a lot more crowded than it was. Sad that reservations are a must in most albergues now. Buen Camino, KSAM. I hope you have a great Camino.
