Santa Barbara I Madonnari 2007

A couple of years ago we went to the I Madonnari Italian Street Painting Festival in Santa Barbara. This year we were joined by the "J". There was a large crowd this year enjoying the Italian inspired festival. The chalk artwork, spread out over the asphalt in front of the Santa Barbara Mission, is colorful, artful, and utterly fascinating. The skill level ranges from beginner to masterpiece. When we weren't admiring the art, we were enjoying the Italian food and live music. Last time there seemed to be less food. This year there was a large variety ranging from chicken, pasta, calamari, and pizza. After we got our fill of chalk, pasta, and ice cream, we walked through the rose garden and enjoyed the sun that finally decided to join the festival. Pictures, lots of them, can be found here.
